Brief History of Shingu

Since 1970
Establishment of the foundation fostering professionals
1970
The Shingu Educational Foundation was approved by the Ministry of Education
1972
Dr. Chong-Ik Lee took office as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees
1973
Completed Main building. Shingu Technical School was approved by the Ministry of Education.
1974
Shingu Technical School was open. The following departments were established Dept. of Landscape Architecture, Dept. of Horticulture, Dept. of Animal Science, Dept. of Craft, Dept. of Printing. Dept. of Applied Industrial Art, Dept. of Dental Laboratory Technology, Dept. of Physical Therapy, and Dept. of Radiological Technology
1975
Dept. of Civil Engineering newly established. 10 Departments with 880 students enrolled. The first Commencement was celebrated for 292 graduates.
1979
Dept. of Home Economics, Dept. of Clothing newly established. Shingu Technical College was approved by the Ministry of Education. Soon-Hee Won took office as the second Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Dr. Chong-Ik Lee appointed as the first president of Shingu Technical College.

Newly established departments : Dept. of Early Childhood Education, Dept. of Business Administration, Dept. of Trading.
1982
Opened Kindergarten for 100 infants
1983
Dept. of Computer Science newly established. Establishment of sisterhood with Osaka, Aoyama Junior College, Japan.
1986
Establishment of sisterhood with STC (School of Technical Careers) at Southern lllinois University in U.S.A
1987
Establishment of Sisterhood with Malaspina College in Canada.

Commitment of new development
1991
Dr. Soong-Kyeom Lee took office as the fifth Chairman of Board of Trustees.
1993
Two years study term extended to three years in the Dept. of Dental Hygiene and Dept. of Dental Laboratory Technology. Enrollment of 22 departments of 2,000 and 960 students for day and night classes respectively
1994
The Dept. of Tourism English (40 students) in the evening division was established
1995
Mr. Jae-sun Lee was appointed as the 6th Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Dr. Soong-Kyeom Lee was appointed as the 3rd president.
1996
Re-establishment of sisterhood with Southern Illinois University in U.S.A.
1997
Dept. of Interior Architecture was established.
1998
Shingu Junior College renamed to Shingu College. Dept. of Horticulture renamed to Dept. of Urban Horticulture. Dept. of Computer Science renamed to Dept. of Computer Information Processing. Dept. of Publishing renamed to Dept. of Publishing Media.
1999
Shingu EXPO held.
Since 2000
Flying for 21st century
2000
Completion of Industrial Cooperation Building. Opening of Shingu Venture Complex.
2001
Opened Total Service Center & Digital Media Center.
Establishment of sisterhood with Swinburne University of Technology in Australia.
2002
Dept. of Internet Information technology newly established.
Completion of Shingu Botanic Garden. Total graduates 50,924.
2003
Opening of Shingu Botanic Garden.
2004
Establishment of sisterhood with Nigata College of Official & Law in Japan, Zhejiang Normal University in China.
2005
Establishment of sisterhood with Bellevue Community College in USA, Kapi’olani Community College in USA, Dalian University of Foreign Languages in China.
2006
Establishment of sisterhood with Aichi Sangyo University in Japan.
2007
Total graduates 55,905.
2008
Total graduates 63,888.
Since 2010

2011
Dr. Jeong-Il Kim took office as the seventh Chairman of Board of Trustees.
Total graduates 71,074.
2012
Total graduates 73,263.
2013
Total graduates 75,976.
2017
Dr. Jae-Tak Jung took office as the eighth Chairman of Board of Trustees.
2018
Shingu College Award for Education Donations in Korea.
